Here at Mr Pool Man, if there’s one thing that we value above relaxation and ease of installation, then it would be your safety. When repairing lights or doing expansion work, we recommend to always get a new pool light cable. The reason for that is simple, water and electricity don’t play well together. Avoid splicing and repairing at all costs and just get a new wire to replace the old/damaged one.
Tip: To easily replace a wire, tie a piece of string the one and of the existing wire before pulling it out the other end. Attach the string to the new wire, reverse the process and your new pool light cable should go through the piping with very little effort.
Pool light cables usually come in fixed 20 or 30 metre segments with attachments already connected and sealed at the ends so that all you need to do is to plug them in to your existing system and you should be good to go. Measure your old wire and get a replacement wire that’s a bit longer. Remember, you can always roll up and tuck in the excess wire but you can’t add extra length to a short wire (no splicing!).
