Pool deck lids are exactly what they sound like, they’re lids providing easy access to your skimmer weirs and preventing surface debris from entering them as well. While pool deck lids serve no vital use in your pool’s overall performance, it is still good practice to replace then when cracks start to appear for one reason: safety.
While it is very rare, cracked pool deck lids can cause serious accidents if it shatters when someone steps on them. If you have a cracked deck lid and a replacement is still coming, make sure to mark off the stop to prevent people from stepping on them in the meantime.
When talking about deck lids, they usually come in two parts, the lid itself and the dress ring.
- Deck Lid - The actual circular cover which serves as the access portal
- Dress Ring - Think of this as the mounting point for your deck lid. It’s impossible to get a flush fit when cutting out poolside surfaces so a dress ring is essential not only to prevent damage to your surface, but to provide a snug fit for your deck lid.
