The Best Pool Salt Water Chlorinators

Are you thinking of building a salt water pool or upgrading your manually chlorinated pool to a salt water pool? You’ve come to the right place! We’re now going to give you our top choices for pool salt water chlorinators that you can find in Australia today!

To start off, we’d like to say that many salt water chlorinators do exactly the same thing and they usually use parts that are from the same manufacturers, so to save you time, we’re not going to give you the 10 best pool salt water chlorinators, we’re not going to give you 7, and not even 5! We’re only going to show you the best of the best so we’re keeping our list down to 4!. So without further ado, here’s our list of the best Pool Salt Water Chlorinators suited for Australian Pools!

Water TechniX Atomic WTA25 Salt Water Chlorinator - 25gram Output

First up, we have our new and reigning favorite, the Water TechniX Atomic WTA25 Salt Water Chlorinator. To give you a quick overview, here’s Tom giving a rundown of the Water TechniX Atomic Salt Water Chlorinator.

We also have a dedicated post that gives a more in-depth look at the WTA25 which you can check out here.

Features of the Water TechniX Atomic WTA25

  • Chlorine Output – 25 grams / hour
  • Maximum Pool Volume – 50,000L for Tropical Climates
  • Salt Levels – 2,500 ppm to 4,000 ppm
  • Mr Pool Man Guarantee – If you don’t love this product, return it within 60 days for a FULL Refund (it’s the only product out there with this kind of guarantee!)

Notes: We can’t stop talking about the Water TechniX Pool Salt water Chlorinators! Of all the salt water pool chlorinators out there, this one has one of the lowest salt requirements. Where other Chlorinators give you a “low salt” warning, the Water TechniX Atomic keeps on chugging on! And remember, the lower the salt content of your pool, the less salt corrosion on your other pool equipment.

The Water TechniX pool Salt water chlorinator can also be used with Mineral Pool Setups. You don’t need to buy expensive hydroxinators that cost as much as a down payment for a new car, you can just use the Water TechniX! Astral VX7 Salt Water Chlorinator

The Astral VX series has long been popular in the Australian market as it is one of the more established brands in the country. The Astral VX7 Salt Water Chlorinator is perfect for small to medium sized pools as it can handle pool sizes up to 50,000L. It has an LCD display and convenient buttons that you can use to navigate all of its settings.

Features of the Astral VX7 Salt Water Chlorinator

  • Chlorine Output – 25 grams / hour
  • Maximum Pool Volume – 50,000L for tropical climates (aka HOT) and up to 96,000L for temperate climates
  • Salt Levels – 3,000 ppm to 8,000 ppm
  • Recommended Salt Levels – 4,000 ppm
  • Clock setting – 4 programmable timers

Notes: One of the things we didn’t like about the Astral VX7 was the label on the front. Since it was exposed to the elements, it tended to peel off and unless you memorized what all of the buttons do, you wouldn’t know which button does what. That’s also one of the reasons why we stocked Astral Chlorinator Front Panel Stickers to take care of this tiny problem.

Saltmate Salt Water Chlorinators

One of the things we love about the Saltmate Saltwater Chlorinator is that it’s locally made in Australia and it’s built like a tank. While it wins no points for sleekness and design, it wins when it comes to weather sealing and hardiness. When we said it was built like a tank, we weren’t kidding. It has a weather-sealed IP-34 rated metal casing that will ensure that it will survive the harsh Australian Summers. We also carry a range of replacement cells for the Saltmate so that you can keep your salt water pool sanitized the whole year round.

Features of the Saltmate Salt Water Chlorinator (SMT90)

  • Chlorine Output – 23 grams / hour
  • Maximum Pool Volume – 50,000 L (lower for hotter locations)
  • Salt Levels – 3,000 ppm to 45,000 ppm
  • Recommended Salt Levels – 4,000 ppm

Notes: Nothing much to be said for the Saltmate Sat Water Chlorinators, and that’s necessarily not a bad thing. It’s a no-frills approach to salt water chlorination and aside from the basic functions, it’s pretty much bulletproof.
